Welcome back Ivy Leaguers from what we all hope was a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend! The weather couldn’t have been better. Shockingly, there is only about 2 weeks left of school! We are unsure of how that happened so quickly. With the end approaching quickly, we have still not slowed down on the activities going on around campus!
Today, Wednesday, May 29 th and Thursday, May 30 th our students will be having their field days. Miss Juliette, our wonderful gym teacher is excited to kick off the games with the preschoolers today and the kindergarten through 8th graders tomorrow. For field day, students need to wear sneakers, their team colors (your classroom teacher will communicate teams to you) and bring a labeled water bottle with them. Parents and families of students are invited to come to watch all the Field Day activities! A flyer was sent home last week with times for the events.
This Friday, May 31 st is our annual Ivy League Talent Show. Ms. Myrna works incredibly hard to organize the event for students to showcase their talents. It’s truly amazing to see how many students can sing, dance, act, and perform. It takes a lot of confidence to get up on that stage and we would like to applaud all of our Talent Show acts. This event will take place at 9:30am in the school gymnasium. Again, parents and families of performers are welcome to join.
Gardening at Ivy League!
Over the next week or so, students and teachers will be planting their classroom vegetables and herbs in our school garden. About a week ago, classes took a mini field trip to the outdoor stage to select their seeds; peppers, cucumbers, snap peas, mint, etc. These plants started out in tiny pots in the classroom where students watered them and made sure they had enough sunlight. But now that they are growing bigger and bigger, it is time to plant them in the outdoor garden. When it comes time to harvest these vegetables, Ivy League looks to donate them to a local food bank.
With all these special activities happening, mark your calendars so you know what’s coming next!
